Yet somewhere between the court and the classroom, we're missing a crucial connection.
While these students track their personal progress and favorite player's stats, many don't realize they're practicing critical math skills that could land them exciting careers in sports technology, data analytics, and more.

Our Founder
Katie is a passionate and solution-driven executive leader with over 20 years of experience in public education, nonprofit organizations, and urban communities. A proud advocate for underserved populations, Katie has dedicated her career to improving access to high-quality education, particularly in STEM and technology.
Katie leads groundbreaking programs that integrate AI, robotics, and digital literacy into K-16 education. She collaborates with schools, nonprofits, and corporate partners to develop FabLabs, AI-powered food trucks, and adaptive learning solutions for students with special needs. Her initiatives include STEM boot camps, out-of-school programs, and professional development workshops that equip educators with innovative strategies for engaging students in emerging technologies.
An inspiring speaker at national and international conferences, Katie has shared her vision for leveraging innovation to create equitable access to education. She holds a BA in Education from John Carroll University, an MS in Physiology from Long Island University in Brooklyn, and a Master Specialist Certificate in Educational Technology from Missouri State University.
Beyond her professional achievements, Katie is a certified sea captain who enjoys exploring both land and water with her husband, David, and their three daughters.
Drawing from our experience in both education and athletics, we built a program that transforms sports passion into STEM opportunity.
By integrating cutting-edge wearable technology with athletic activities students already love, STEM Playbook creates an immersive learning environment where every practice becomes a pathway to discovery.

Starting with successful pilots at Bedford Recreation Center, we've proven that when you meet students where their passions lie, incredible transformations happen. Through partnerships with organizations like the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio, we're expanding our reach to inspire the next generation of sports technologists, data scientists, and innovation leaders.
